Enjoy a free, guided 20-minute walking tour offering an insider look into Thoroughbred racing. Tours run continuously from 6–9 a.m., Tuesday 5/13 to Friday 5/16, with last registration at 8:45 a.m. (Friday tours are the most popular—come earlier in the week if possible!

Enjoy a free, guided 20-minute walking tour offering an insider look into Thoroughbred racing. Tours run continuously from 6–9 a.m., Tuesday 5/13 to Friday 5/16, with last registration at 8:45 a.m. (Friday tours are the most popular—come earlier in the week if possible!

Tour Highlights

  • Watch Preakness contenders during morning workouts.
  • Meet a jockey and learn about their gear and training.
  • Visit the Starting Gate, Stakes Barn, and Paddock.
  • Talk with trainers, owners, and special guests (e.g., politicians, blacksmiths).
  • See the Baltimore Police Mounted Unit.
  • Visit the Winners Circle and meet owners of retired racehorses.

Accessibility & Guidelines

  • Tours are stroller and wheelchair-friendly on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. and Wednesday at 7:00 a.m.
  • No flash photography.
  • Stay with your group; one tour per person per day.
  • All bags and containers are subject to search.

Parking Info

  • Free parking in the Rogers Ave. lot (Northern Pkwy & Woodcrest Ave).
  • Enter the track via the Rogers Ave. gate, open until 10:00 a.m.
  • Staying past 10:00 a.m.? Exit through the front and walk to the lot.

Friday, May 16 – Black-Eyed Susan Day

  • Rogers Ave. lot becomes paid parking after 10:00 a.m.
  • Only vehicles with a valid parking placard can remain.
  • Handicapped parking and passenger drop-off available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is there a fee to take the Sunrise Tour?

There is no fee for the Sunrise Tours. There is a $40 fee for the Historical Tours.

Is handicap parking available?

Handicapped parking is available in the Rogers Ave. lot.

Where is the passenger drop-off located?

Passenger drop off is available in front of the Grandstand.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly?

Wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly tours will be offered on Tuesday at 8:00 am and Wednesday at 7:00 am.

Are children under 12 allowed on the tour?

Yes! Note: Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

How many guests can I bring with me on the tour?

Maximum 10 persons per registration. If your party is larger than 10, please email sunrisetours@marylandjockeyclub.com so that your group tour can be accommodated.

Can I join a different tour group if I see someone I know on the same tour after my tour has been assigned?

Spectators must stay with their assigned group while on the tour. Should you desire to tour with a special group, please register the group in advance of group’s tour day and time.

Can I take pictures on the tour?

Yes, you can take pictures on the tour, however NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED.

Are there any security polices to enter the venue?

All persons entering Pimlico and their camera bags, purses and containers are subject to direct physical search or indirect search by wanding or magnetometers. For more information regarding Prohibited and Permitted items, please CLICK HERE
